January Tacoma Karaoke News

Now that the holidays are over, we've rolled into a great New Year.

We just finished an exciting weekend of karaoke and dancing at the Valley with a packed house both nights and a lot of new faces.

We had a relaxing "Tacoma karaoke" meetup at Gloria's last Wednesday Night including two "new" members and Jody, whom we haven't seen in a while. I sang the Electric Slide on the condition that the group dance.....they did. I love watching them dance, you know everyone has their own style - they looked great! Then the KJ put on the Cupid Shuffle, and we danced to that. It sounded funny at first, as it was a different version but, we quickly got into it, we don't care if we were doing it wrong....or not.....because we were All doing it!It was fun, I didn't want to leave, but, I've gotta get some sleep to make it to work on time in the morning.

I've got a couple more meetups scheduled for February - so check out the calendar on the Tacoma Karaoke Meetup Group site for those meetup nights.

You can always preview the group, it only cost $1.00 to join. It's easy.
Looking forward to meeting up with you in person!

The snow flurries today alarmed me a bit, but, it's stopped without leavingany traces of snow on the ground.

Tacoma Karaoke

Hopefully you all had a wonderful Thanksgiving.
I know I did, lot's of food, time to enjoy it and relax with the family.
Now that we are coming into the Christmas season, holiday songs are coming out of the books again. It's okay to sing "Grandma got run over by a reindeer" and Silent Night.
You've only got the rest of the month to sing them, so get busy finding your songs.
We've been busy working and working. It's time to slow down a bit.
I spent November being grateful for all I have and those I love.
I'm going to spend December being grateful also and maybe January and February. My customers are wonderful, they make me happy.
That's what it's all about. Singing, dancing, being happy and having a good time.

TigerRose Karaoke Entertainment

We've been busy this summer.
Along with the regular Friday and Saturday night karaoke gigs, we do Weddings, Receptions, Birthday parties and Private parties with and without themes.
In July we had 3 private parties, including a 4th of July blowout! Complete with fireworks and crazy patriots manning the pyrotechnics!
At one point, I thought they were gonna get me, but they missed and hit the porch instead. After some of the guests put the fire out, I started the music up again.
Yup, they missed and I'm still thanking God.

Everythings going well and I didn't think it could get any better.

Then August came and we've done 2 crazy parties, so far.

A bachelorette party with two beautiful male strippers, very good and very tasteful. To their credit they didn't chase any females around - They waited for the interested women to come to them. Then gave special attention to the women waving money. While Alana got a lap dance, the other women looked on with envy and awe. The moves that man had, oooh! I've never seen the likes of that before. Alana's face gave it all away! Grinning ear to ear, chair dancing with glee, both hands firmly holding his tight buns......Oh Yeah, ;) She enjoyed it.
Later she stated it was the best twenty dollars she'd ever spent.
As the party wound down into the wee hours of the morning some of the ladies had their pictures taken with the near naked dancers, very sexy pictures, I might add. Everyone left smiling, including yours truly-no I didn't get any pictures taken.

At the Hawaiian Luau - with the whole clan dancing, I was encouraged to try some hula. I did great - hiding behind "big mamma" the whole time. Ha Ha! It was fun, the food was awesome, the music was heavenly. Big Mamma's really got some pipes, the whole family was encouraged to sing and helped when they deemed it necessary. We had some beautiful harmonies coming out of those microphones. This brought listeners from everywhere, it was all good, the audience was invited to join the party and clap loudly.

Friday and Saturday night karaoke at The Valley Pub is going strong.
With Fridays we've been really busy, lots of people, including an abundance of singers.
Yes, they are still dancing on the tables - what can I say, the girls enjoy showing off and the guys love watching or joining in on the gyrations. That gets interesting sometimes.
We have two bartenders on Friday nights now, that's how hot its been in there.
Saturday nights are as fun as Fridays and we get more songs in the rotation. We are still working it, having a great time and making new friends.

Come on in and join us one of these weekends.
More later.....

Tacoma Karaoke, Singing Karaoke, Dancing Karaoke,.....

It's May already, where does the time go?
In March we continued karaoke at the Valley Pub, as usual, but,
there were a few really good dance songs that came to our attention.

Along with Bartender -Rico - who, as you already know, dances on the bar, and sings "Purple Rain", to the absolute delight of our female customers.
We have started table dancing.

The dance songs are amazing when they're playing and the pub turns into a club. Energy is amplified while everybody gets a mischievous smile on their faces! Definately me, I love it!
We've got the party bumpin' and the crowd is moving! Girls,... Guys,... those that aren't dancing are enjoying the show!

I'll warn the dancers and warm up the crowd with "Cyclone" by T-pain and Baby Dash, (the tables start getting cleared off for the next song) then roll into "Lollipop" by Lil Wayne, (this one gets the ladies going) and they start climbing on the table strutting their stuff!
The big one that we all love is "Low" by Flo Rida featuring T-pain, it's got a great beat and the "club" goes wild!
If everyone's into it big time, I'll pop on the "Cha Cha slide", otherwise known as the "Casper Slide" so they can groove to that.
We've been doing this for six weekend's now and they've been asking for it every weekend -so I guess we'll continue for as long as the tables last.
I've been adding new songs, Shakira's a good one, they like "Hip's don't lie" and try to out-dance each other.
Some of these moves can't even be shown on cable TV!
Last night we had "V" get so low she was "X-rated" -the guys couldn't stop talking & smiling about it and I've had several e-mails asking me to get her to do it again, but, on the table this time. (Gee, maybe "V's" life calling is dancing, she's got a lot of fans!)

We had a great Karaoke Meetup last weekend, with wonderful singers, great entertainers, and table dancers, they sang, we danced. We got to meet people who were previously only Characters on our computers and spend 4 hours getting to know and appreciate each other in person. What a great night! I know we've got pictures-http://karaoke.meetup.com/200/photos/ (Don't know if they're updated yet though, so keep checking back, just in case they're not.)

We've had 5 Tacoma Karaoke Meetups since my last post! Wow! We've met at Lil Vic's, The Oak Tree, The Valley Pub, Gloria's & Charley's - and still looking for more places to meet and have fun. If your looking for a relaxed place to be accepted and party, you can come and join us- http://karaoke.meetup.com/200/ or create your own party, hire a DJ/KJ and get it going- http://tigerroz.com either way we'll have a good time!

Tacoma Karaoke at The Oak Tree

This is the Oak Tree on Pacific Avenue. Amazing little place, but, not so little once your inside.
I was pleasantly surprised.
Mystic suggested this bar. I'm so glad she did. I went, I looked around, and starting quizzing some of the patrons about the music they enjoyed.
Sure enough on a Wednesday night, it's purdy much a country crowd. We all got along just fine. The KJ/DJ told me his name was "Dick", I didn't quite believe him as some other patrons were calling him Richard and he answered to that. (He told me the "Other host" was Richard).

I don't quite know if Mystic had told him I was a KJ, but, when he started "picking on me"I figured she must have. I sang my first song, and got my applause as I was scooting back to the table (and my friends)
.Dick, got the next singer going, then appeared at my side to ask me if I would sing a duet with him. I was a bit surprised, but, told him it depended on the song.
Then he said he wanted to sing "Summer Lovin'" I smiled as I replied, "as long as you don't get too nasty, I can handle it. "His eyes got big, as he stood up and looked around the room "who's been talkin' about me?" he queried. My smile got bigger, I laughingly said "nobody, guys just always want to kill that song". I don't know if he believed me or not, but, about 3 songs later he called me up to sing with him. I didn't catch everything he said in his introduction, but, I did hear him say "she's a good singer" and something about confidence and wit. Aha!, these were clues as to how he was going to sing the following song. I remember thinking - Oh G r r e a t,
W o n d e r f u l, he's going to attack me.

And he did.

The audience, who knew him, were sympathetic towards me and I had friends out there too, so let the music roll and we'll see what happens..........

dum da dum da dum, da dum dum dum, o you know the song-
summer lovin' had me a blast(him),
summer lovin' happened so fast-(me)
Met a girl crazy for me-(him with a gleam in his eye) ,
Met a boy dumb as can be (me) (hey, I know he's gonna do it so I'll get in the first shot and, hey, the audience laughed......)
Summer days driftin' away to uh ha the summer nights, (us together)
Uh wella wella wella, Uh, tell me more tell me more did you get very far, (guys)
tell me more tell me more like does he have a car, (girls)
uh huh, uh huh, okay,... so you know the song.
I called him gay, the audience laughed, you know the part where the girls say "cause he sounds like a drag" yeah i said "fag" -umm hm, just one more little dig, I wasn't about to get as raunchy as he was getting - and he got his own pants wet
when I said "he was weak, just turned a trick" -he choked on his drink and spilled it on himself.
(just a dribble, but, IT Counts!) You know what? -I survived.
I even got a few laughs of my own. I did have a good time, after I calmed my friends down, (they weren't as amused as I was and some were just plain angry, they said it was disrespectful.) I value my friends' opinions and thank them for caring. I feel kind of like it was a rite of passage, I went thru it, succeeded and I'm over it.
I would go back, after I thoroughly run thru every lyric in that song and analyze it for all evil connotations - and besides Dick kinda cheated, I say if your changing the words around -it should still rhyme. Dick didn't agree with me -he just went all out, way, way out there! I'm smiling -what a nasty mind! But, yup, I still had fun.
What do you think? Would you go back?

Back at The Valley........

They missed me, we went through a bit of negotiating to figure the details out, but, we did it and I'm baaaaackkkkk. Life goes on and karaoke is a big part of my life. So I'm back at the Valley Pub. Yup, that part of downtown Tacoma. It's a bit beyond downtown, but, we really get 'down'. We have started a new game, the name of this game is musical fun or pass the mic, and that's what we do. I start the microphone on the left side of the bar. It goes one person to another, the rules are - 1)be nice to the mic, - 2)you must say something positive, nice or just say "hello" or "pass" as long as your voice comes over the mic, you have 3 minutes maximum time. -3)Or sing something you have already chosen - I will have your music ready, when it is your turn. (You don't have to stay in your seat, the mic is cordless so you can roam the room if you so choose.) At the end of the bar, I will take the mic back to the beginning or it runs the tables, left to right.
This game seems to be getting everyone comfortable with the mic. People who would never normally sing have been putting in slips lately. This is fun, as people who have been hanging out with me for a year and a half have finally started singing - and they sing great! We love these "new" voices! So I'll keep the game going for a little while longer and see how many different songs we can get rolling. Tori sang "It's Alright" in a big way, we haven't heard that one in a while - David sang "Cracklin' Rosie" - one of my fave's. Then Jimbo blew me away with his rendition of "Rock the Boat". Roxie and Kevin were great backup dancers and entertained us through several songs. Stellar entertainment....I can truly say, "It was Good" and we get to do it again next Saturday Night. I Can't Wait.

Karaoke at Latitude 84

The Tacoma karaoke Meetup Group met at Latitude 84 on Saturday night for karaoke and a good time. As a group we had a good time, we got to meet 2 new members. Carrie, who came as Elvis and Dan who came as a "Blues Brother" they looked good and sang good. There were quite a few costumes in the crowd, a very cute witch who's "shirt" kept coming up (exposing her thong and a well toned something else), a bawdy french maid- lot's of fun and an entertaining dancer, Batman- complete with muscles and gold bat motifs and more. Quite impressive. Dawn, Julie and I had a few drinks (2) to celebrate Dawn's birthday on Friday - Hope you had fun, Dawn, Darling. I was disappointed with the musical offerings, but, it is a "dance" club now, I suppose. The music started after 10:00, with 9 dance songs, then one karaoke rotation followed by 8 dance songs and another karaoke rotation. So for the length of time we were there, we did spend quite a lot of time at the table talking and looking up songs. We decided to sing "you've lost that loving feeling" as a group and Dan lead us incredibly well, that was fun. It was also our last song. We sang 3 songs, in about 3 hours and I just had to go home. If I hear "Picture" or "Hotel California" one more time??????................< I don't know what I'm gonna do. So I avoid those songs and go outside with the smokers until they are finished.
It's all good - somebody still loves those songs, I just get to hear them too much lately.
